Start with Microsoft power point

You can start with Microsoft power point using different options such as by clicking on desk top, click on new. Then, click on Microsoft power point presentation. If you do not read my previous post related to Microsoft power point presenter.I recommend you to read it first. There are three options to start Microsoft power point presenter.

Starting with Microsoft power point from windows search bar

Steps

  1. Click on the search Key found at the left bottom of windows 10.

2. Write power point in the searching field.

3. The power point application will be appeared. Double left clicks on the application. The application will open and look like the following.

4. Click on blank presentation or you can select the available power point theme.

Start Microsoft power point from desk top

  1. Right click on the desktop.
  2. Go to new and click on new.
  3. Click on Microsoft power point presentation.

Start Microsoft power point from task bar

If you brought the power point application icon at the task bar, you can start if from the task bar.

Steps Double click on the application icon located at the task bar. Or right click on the icon at the task bar and then click on PowerPoint

Create new power point document

Sometimes when you open the power point, you may want to create new Microsoft power point presentation document.

Steps

  1. Click on file menu.
  2. Click on new tool.

3. You can click on blank presentation or select the theme.

Saving the power point presentation

After completing your power point preparation, you should save the document. Follow the following steps.

  1. Press CTRL + S from the keyboard or click on file menu.
  2. Click save as if you are saving the document for the first time or save button the document is already present.  Save used to save the edited document. That means the document is present before the current time but you open it to edit some content. To save the edited content, you will click on Save button. Save As is used to save the new document that is not created before.

4. When you click on Save As button, the above option window will appear. Using this window, you can select the directory where your document will be stored or click browse button to get your own directory (folder).

5. For example, you may need to save the document on desktop and you select Desktop. You can give you file name inside the file name field.

5. After selecting the file saving directory (folder), click on save button to complete the saving task.

Open exiting power point

There are two main options to open existing power point.

Option 1: from power point application

Steps

  1. Open the power point application using either of the above creating option.
  2. Click on file menu.

3. Click on open option.

4. Available power point file name will list as indicated in the above snap shoot. If the file you want to open is listed, left double click on the file name. Or if the file is not available at front, click on browse button to go to the directory where your file is stored as shown below.

5. Select the file and click on open button. Finally, you will make the power point file is open.

Option 2

  1. Go to the directory (folder) where the power point document is saved. Your file path may be look like as follows.

F:\Partition B\proposal\PPT

  • Left double click on the document and you will get the opened document. You may have the file as follows.

Print power point document

You can use two options for printing the power point document.

You can press CTRL + P from your keyboard or follow the following steps

Steps

  1. Click on file menu.
  2. Click on print button. You will get the following printing window.

Export power point document to PDF

You can change power point document into the following file type using export service.

  • PDF
  • Video
  • Animated GIF
  • Reading handout

  1. Click on file menu.
  2. Click on export button. You will get the following option window.

Layout

it is the physical appearance (structure) of your power point document. Layout enables you to select different visual structure of power point.

Steps

  1. Click on home menu.
  2. Go to slides tool.
  3. Click on the down arrow of layout ribbon.

4. Select the layout you impressed. E.g., you may select the following layout.

5. After selecting your layout, you can continue as it is or you can adjust the title and main content area as follows.

Add new layout

Layout tool makes the power point document will have uniform structure. If you have 100 slides, all slide will have the same layout. But you can have different layout for individual slides.

Steps

  1. Click on home menu.
  2. Go to slides tool.
  3. Click on the down arrow of new slide ribbon.

4. Click on the type of layout.

5. You see, you have four slides with different layout structure.

Sections

The sections tool under home menu enables you to add different sections in your power point slide.

Steps

  1. Click on the slide add section.

2. Click on home menu.

3. Go to slides tool.

4. Click on the down arrow of sections ribbon.

5. Click on add sections. Give the name of the section inside section name and click on rename button.

6. Continue for all slide you want to add.
